How Trade eXpansion is helping European B2B companies move from AI ambition to AI value

Europe is not behind on AI awareness. It is behind on execution. Why we made a deliberate shift to become an AI-first solutions partner for larger B2B companies.

The AI conversation has largely focused on whether companies have started. A more important question is now emerging: what are they actually getting out of it? Not the headlines about AI models or the announcements from technology giants. Something quieter and more consequential: the gap between the companies that are genuinely integrating AI into how they operate and the majority that are still experimenting without direction is beginning to widen.

For Trade eXpansion, this isn’t a distant observation. It’s the conversation we are having every week with B2B companies across Denmark and Scandinavia. And it is the reason we have made a deliberate shift in how we work, what we offer, and who we serve.

In 2026, Trade eXpansion made a deliberate strategic choice: to build on fifteen years of digital product development and become a focused, AI-first solutions partner for larger B2B companies.

That’s the strategic direction we set for ourselves in 2026. It’s not because app and digital development is behind us. Fifteen years and over 100 projects say otherwise. It’s because the market opportunity ahead of us requires a different kind of capability, a different kind of conversation, and a different kind of partner.

Europe has an AI adoption challenge: it’s not what most people think

The data on AI adoption in Europe tells a story that is more nuanced than the headlines suggest. Europe isn’t behind in awareness or ambition. Survey after survey shows that business leaders across the continent understand that AI will be consequential for their industries. The challenge is execution.

Research published in 2026 by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and Brookings found that while 43% of US workers were using AI in their jobs, the figure across six European countries averaged just 32%, an 11 percentage point gap that is directly associated with measurable differences in productivity growth. The same research noted that this gap closely mirrors the technology adoption patterns that drove the productivity divergence between the US and Europe over the past three decades.

The implication isn’t that Europe lacks the technology. It’s that European companies, particularly mid-sized and industrial B2B companies, need a different kind of support to move from awareness to adoption. They need a partner who understands the business before the technology. That’s precisely the gap Trade eXpansion is built to close.

The real problem isn’t access to AI. It’s direction.

McKinsey’s 2025 State of AI survey found that 88% of organisations now use AI in at least one business function. But only 6% qualify as high performers, companies that are seeing meaningful impact on their bottom line. The gap between the 88% and the 6% isn’t a technology gap. It’s a strategy and execution gap.

Companies that get real value from AI consistently share one characteristic: they started with a specific, clearly defined business problem rather than a technology ambition. They didn’t ask “how do we adopt AI?” They asked “where in our operations are we losing time, quality or money in a way that a smarter system could address?”

Our principle is simple: AI must be translated into business value that can be understood, decided upon, measured and adopted.

We don’t start with a technology recommendation. We start where the TRX Opportunity Check™ starts: where is the real problem, what would a measurable improvement look like, and what is the simplest practical first step that would create real evidence of value? Only then do we talk about how AI or digital tools might support the answer.

What Trade eXpansion actually offers

Our work with customers falls into four interconnected steps:

  • TRX Opportunity Check™: a few simple questions gauge your AI Opportunity Readiness. From there, the Check builds a company-specific dashboard that identifies and maps out the AI opportunities that drive real value.
  • TRX Opportunity Report™: we turn that opportunity into a full, qualified analysis, complete with strategic direction, clear priorities and concrete recommendations.
  • AI Business Case & MVP: we validate the selected opportunity using the company’s actual data, processes and systems, build the business case and create a testable first version.
  • AI Implementation Partner: we implement, integrate and scale the solution into daily operations, often in combination with Artefact’s international AI and data capacity.

What these four have in common is that they’re all designed to be understandable, buyable and focused on documented business value. Not AI for its own sake. AI that makes a measurable difference.

An AI opportunity is a value hypothesis, not a conclusion. It must be tested against actual data, workflows and user behaviour, measured in practice and adjusted as the company learns.

The Artefact partnership: a European partnership with local accountability

One of the most significant changes in how Trade eXpansion operates is the partnership we’ve built with Artefact. Artefact is one of Europe’s leading AI and data consultancies, with offices across more than twenty countries and deep expertise in AI implementation at enterprise scale.

Trade eXpansion leads the customer dialogue, strategic qualification and translation into practical business solutions. When a case requires additional specialist depth or international scale, our collaboration with Artefact provides access to broader European AI and data capabilities.

And for our customers, this means something practical: they get local access, local business understanding and the ability to move quickly, which is what Trade eXpansion has always provided, combined with the international AI capacity, methodologies and credibility that Artefact brings. It’s not passive outsourcing. It’s a deliberate combination of speed and scale.

Why this matters more now for European companies

Europe is at an inflection point with AI. The EU AI Act is now in force, and the European Commission’s Denmark 2026 Digital Decade Country Report frames AI adoption as central to how the country will handle its major societal and economic challenges. Across the continent, the policy and regulatory environment is clarifying, and the commercial pressure to act is intensifying.

At the same time, European companies bring real strengths to this moment. Strong data governance traditions, sophisticated industrial and manufacturing sectors, high trust in institutional relationships and a deep understanding that technology must serve the business rather than the other way around. These aren’t weaknesses relative to US or Asian markets. They’re assets, if companies can find the right path to execution.

The market is ready for companies that can make AI concrete, understandable and genuinely valuable. That’s the space Trade eXpansion is building into.

The companies that will emerge from the next two to three years in the strongest competitive position aren’t necessarily the ones that spent the most on AI or adopted the most tools. They’re the ones that made deliberate, carefully reasoned choices about where AI genuinely creates value in their specific business, and then moved quickly and practically to capture it.

Closing thoughts

Trade eXpansion isn’t moving away from what we’ve built. We’re building on it. Fifteen years of making technology concrete, usable and adopted by real users in real businesses is precisely the foundation that an AI solutions partner needs. The difference now is direction and focus.

We’re here for larger B2B companies in Denmark and the Nordic markets, supported by wider European capabilities, that want to move from AI ambition to AI value. Not with grand transformation programmes. With focused, practical first steps that create real evidence and real momentum.

If that’s the conversation your company needs, we’d be glad to have it.
